    – LearnDash LMS – Notifications (from version 1.6.8 to 1.6.9)
    – LearnDash LMS – ProPanel (from version 3.1.1 to 3.1.2)

Since this, we have “There has been a critical error on this website.” on any lesson on our website!

I have deactivated the <strong style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;”>LearnDash LMS – Notifications plugin for now, but will need a better solution.

    Hi Stuart!

It seems that the “Critical Error” is being caused by a specific bug in the LearnDash LMS – Notifications (v1.6.9) update.

    How to fix this

Since you’ve already deactivated the Notifications plugin to keep the site live, here are your best options for a permanent fix:

Option 1: Roll back to Version 1.6.8 (Recommended)

The safest and easiest fix is to revert the Notifications plugin to the previous stable version while waiting for LearnDash to release a hotfix (likely v1.6.10).

    1. Install the free WP Rollback plugin (or another similar plugin).
    2. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
    3. Find LearnDash LMS – Notifications and click the new Rollback link.
    4. Select version 1.6.8 and confirm.

Option 2: Manual Code Patch (If you have developer/FTP access)

If you want to keep version 1.6.9 but fix the crash, you can edit the file mentioned in your error log:

    • File Path: /wp-content/plugins/learndash-notifications/src/Notifications/Compat/WPML.php
    • Line: 64
    • The Change: Find the function definition for filter_has_access. It likely looks like this:
      public function filter_has_access( $has_access, $post_id, int $user_id )
    • The Fix: Change int $user_id to ?int $user_id (adding the question mark allows it to accept null values) or simply remove the int prefix entirely.

Let me know if that helped!
