Rsorder OSRS and speeding up slayer tasks
Old School RuneScape (OSRS) offers countless ways to train ranged, but few methods are as efficient or game-changing as using the Dwarf Multicannon. Unlocked after completing the “Dwarf Cannon” quest-an easy, quest with no skill requirements-this deployable turret fires cannonballs at multiple enemies simultaneously, drastically boosting ranged experience rates and speeding up slayer tasks.
While the cannon is powerful, it’s also expensive: cannonballs cost around 210 gp each, and high-density spots can use up to 6,000 per hour. Choosing the right location is key to balancing experience gains, cost efficiency, and even potential profit. Below are the best spots to cannon in OSRS, tailored to different account types and ranged levels.
1. Lighthouse Basement (Dagannoths) – Best for High XP Rates
The Lighthouse Basement, accessible after starting the “Horror from the Deep” quest, is widely regarded as the top cannon spot in OSRS. Located near Rellekka, this multi-combat zone is home to 22 Dagannoths-aggressive, low-defense monsters that are perfect for continuous cannoning.
Dagannoths offer exceptional experience rates, reaching 80,000 to 130,000 ranged XP per hour with proper gear. Their fast respawn rate ensures your cannon never sits idle, and their low defense means consistent hits, even for lower-level players.
To maximize efficiency, place the cannon near the center of the pit for optimal coverage. Bring food (like pineapple pizzas for cost-effectiveness) and prayer potions for Protect from Melee, and use the nearby upstairs bank to restock cannonballs quickly. While loot isn’t highly profitable, occasional drops like medium clue scrolls and high-level seeds (such as snapdragon) help offset cannonball costs.
2. Rock Crabs (North of Rellekka) – Ideal for Low-Level Players
For new players or accounts with low ranged levels (1-40), Rock Crabs on the northern shore of Rellekka are a fantastic choice. These level-13 monsters have high hit points (50) but extremely low defense, making them easy targets for the cannon.
Rock Crabs are non-aggressive but respawn quickly, and their dense spawns in a multi-combat area allow the cannon to hit multiple targets at once. XP rates here range from 30,000 to 50,000 per hour, making it a great spot to fly through early ranged levels.
The only downside is popularity-Rock Crabs are a well-known spot, so you may need to hop worlds to find an open area. Pairing the cannon with throwing knives can further boost XP gains, turning a solid training spot into an efficient leveling method.
3. Scabarites (Sophanem Dungeon) – Best for Profit
If you’re looking to cannon while offsetting costs (or even turning a profit), Scabarites in the Sophanem Dungeon are an excellent option. These monsters drop valuable items like rune equipment, noted adamantite ore, and blood runes fairly often, making cannoning here both efficient and lucrative.
To access this spot, you’ll need to start the “Contact” quest-a high-level master quest-but the investment is worth it. The dungeon is a multi-combat zone, so the cannon can hit multiple Scabarites at once, with XP rates around 60,000 to 80,000 per hour.
Bring prayer potions, high-healing food, and melee gear to minimize damage, as Scabarites are aggressive and will swarm you. High Alchemy runes are also useful to turn dropped rune items into gold, further boosting your profits.
4. Castle Wars Ogres – Great for Mid-Level Training
Ogres east of Castle Wars are a popular mid-level cannon spot, with no additional quest requirements. These level-62 monsters have low defense and spawn in groups, making them perfect for the cannon’s multi-target damage.
XP rates here average 40,000 to 60,000 per hour from the cannon alone, and you can supplement with melee or ranged attacks to speed things up. The area is easily accessible via the Castle Wars teleport, and nearby banks make restocking convenient.
While the spot can be crowded, it’s less competitive than Rock Crabs or Dagannoths. For a less crowded alternative, try ogres in the Combat Training Camp, which requires completing the “Biohazard” quest.
